One new mom finding her own beat in a world where she doesn’t fit in one category.
My name is Cameron. I am the ingénue – the young girl becoming a woman. I’m 25 years old and I’m still learning who I am.
I’ve loved Jesus for most of my life. That relationship is the core of who I am, who I want to be, and how I conduct myself & my other relationships. I’m not the poster-child for Christianity. I’m still definitely struggling with my own issues as I’m sure everyone is & I’m still working toward the person I want to be. I just know that my heart & my soul & my thoughts & my convictions all point in the direction of Jesus. So sometimes I talk about that.
I’ve been married now for almost 6 years. My husband is my best friend and one of my favorite people in life. He makes me laugh & helps me grow as a person, a mom, a friend, etc. I could list so many things I love about him, but basically, he is strong in the places I am weaker & vice versa. I feel blessed to have found someone who fills my gaps, who understands my thoughts, who relates to my nerdiness & who loves me for who I am. He is also a phenomenal father & I’ve fallen even more in love with him after watching him take on this role.
Thanks to some poor planning, laziness & some travel with my husband’s band a few years ago, I took a couple of years off from college & am just now about to finish my degree in Elementary Education. I would love to teach Kindergarten. I would really love to be the first real teacher for kids & introduce a love of reading & learning & show them that school is fun! I have lots of ideas about how to do this & I’m sure I’ll share them as I continue on that path. As for right now, I’ll be starting my student teaching in a 4th grade classroom in the fall.
In January 2010, I became a mom to Isis. She is by far the best thing I have ever done and has become such a joy in our lives. Things have definitely been unexpected & scary at times, but again, I’m learning & growing everyday of this journey. I had a natural childbirth, I am breastfeeding & I love using cloth diapers! On the other end of the spectrum in parenting strategies, we have had great success with scheduling (although I’m probably not quite as strict as some) & sleep training. I have shared & will continue to share my experiences and tips based on what has worked for me, but as every baby & every mom is different, I look forward to gaining insight & experience from other moms who stumble upon this blog!
I also love TV, movies, music & reading. I’m a little nerdy & a little all over the place. As being a mom isn’t the only thing about me, I find myself writing about all kinds of topics that fit into my world. Please check out some of my best posts & subscribe in order to follow along! I love comments & opinions & experiences & more than anything I look forward to meeting YOU!!
